Esha Deol: A sexy starlet

Esha Deol has earned the epithet sexy starlet of Bollywood due to her glamorous looks and a shapely figure, inherited partly from her mother, the 'Dream Girl' Hema Malini. Veteran actor Dharmendra is her father, and she is half-sister to actors Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol, and cousin to actor Abhay Deol. Her younger sibling, Ahana Deol is also an aspiring actress.

She attended Mumbai's Jamnabai Narsee School, where she earned a name for herself in the arena of sports, excelling at soccer. Her multifarious talents include being an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer; she was trained by her mother, who is a famous exponent of that particular dance form herself.

Esha is a fitness fanatic and her physique is showcased in Dhoom which was her biggest hit. Being half-Punjabi and half-Tamil, Esha is a perfect embodiment of cross-cultural upbringing, as she can speak both Punjabi and Tamil perfectly.

Her debut film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, did not do well at the box office, but her performance was noticed, and she won the Filmfare Best Debut Award. She starred in a number of films over the next two years, but none of them succeeded. She finally hit the jackpot with Dhoom (2004). This was followed by a Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan joint production, Kaal, which was her second hit. She has performed a memorable item song in that film, which remains a hit till now. Her next hit films were Boney Kapoor's No Entry which was declared the highest grosser of 2005, and the action thriller Dus. She is set to star in her mother's next directorial venture with Rekha and Abhishek Bachchan and also a film in which her mother and her will be starring together in for the first time. Her recent accomplishment is being nominated for Star Screen Awards best Actor in a negative role(male/female) for her performance in Ankahee.

It can be safely concluded that it is still early days yet for this glam doll in the fiercely competitive world of Bollywood. But with her winning looks and figure, and her proven acting skills, it won't be surprising to see this elder daughter of once Bollywood's most handsome and successful couple, attain dizzying heights of fame and fortune in the foreseeable future.
