Personal Life
Hailing from Tiruvalla, Kerala, Blessy was born on September 3, 1963, into a family of six siblings to Benny Thomas and Ammini Thomas. Blessy pursued his education at Mar Thoma School, SCS High School, and Mar Thoma College in Tiruvalla.


Career Life
Blessy embarked on his filmmaking journey as an assistant director, working under the mentorship of acclaimed filmmakers like Padmarajan and Lohithadas. In 2004, he made his directorial debut with 'Kaazhcha'. The film chronicles the story of an orphaned boy affected by the Gujarat earthquake and his profound impact on the life of a small-town film operator, portrayed by Mammootty, and his family. 'Kaazhcha' garnered acclaim, securing three Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Film and Best Actor for Mammootty.

Building on the success of his debut, Blessy directed 'Thanmathra.' This poignant drama centers on a middle-class government employee, played by Mohanlal, and his family, delving into the challenges posed by Alzheimer's disease. 'Thanmathra' received critical praise and earned Blessy the National Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam, along with five Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor for Mohanlal. Among his other notable works are 'Kalimannu,' 'Bhramaram,' 'Best Actor,' 'Pranayam,' 'Palunku,' and 'Calcutta News.'

'Aadujeevitham' stands out as one of Blessy's highly anticipated projects in 2024. Adapted from the novel 'Goat Days' by Benyamin, the film features Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amala Paul in lead roles. With music composed by A.R. Rahman, the movie is slated for release in theaters on March 28, 2024.
