Gaddar

Biography:  Gaddar is a prominent Telugu poet, revolutionary, and folk singer from India. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and celebrated poets in the Telugu language. Gaddar was born on June 6, 1949, in the Warangal district of the present-day Telangana state. Gaddar is known for his passionate and revolutionary poetry that reflects the struggles and aspirations of the marginalized and oppressed sections of society. His works often address issues related to social injustice, inequality, and the rights of the working class. He uses his poetry as a medium to raise awareness about these pressing societal issues and to advocate for social change. During the late 1960s and 1970s, Gaddar actively participated in the Naxalite movement, a Maoist insurgency seeking to bring about radical social and political transformation. He was associated with the People's War Group (PWG), which was a part of the broader Naxalite movement in India. However, he later distanced himself from the armed struggle and turned to peaceful means of social activism and poetry to continue his fight for justice and equality. Apart from being a poet, Gaddar is also a talented folk singer. He uses traditional Telugu folk forms like "Gaddar Pada" to disseminate his revolutionary ideas among the masses. His performances are not only entertaining but also thought-provoking, inspiring people to reflect on their circumstances and strive for a better future. Gaddar's powerful poetry and influential activism have earned him immense respect and admiration from people across various walks of life. Death On August 6, 2023, Gaddar garu passed away at Hyderabad Apollo Hospitals after battling a prolonged illness.
