Maya Krishnan Biography

Maya S. Krishnan is an Indian actress, model, and singer who works in the Tamil film industry. Her acting debut as the college girl in the film Vaanavil Vaazhkai (2015) was a modest beginning, but it was her moaning sound and beautiful portrayal in Loki's Vikram that catapulted her to stardom. Her unique vocal talent and expressive acting skills have earned her a new trademark value in the industry.

Early life

Maya was born on April 15, 1996, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She did her schooling at TVS Lakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madurai, and she did her engineering at Amrita University School of Engineering, Bangalore. She was a child gymnast and placed 6th in gymnastics during the Nationals. Her father's name is Sundarakrishnan, and her sister, Swagatha S. Krishnan, is also a singer in the Tamil industry.

Film Career

made her cinematic debut in James Vasanthan's Vaanavil Vaazhkai, where she transformed into a singer with cropped hair. She then portrayed a reporter in Thodari (2016) and appeared in films like Magalir Mattum, Velaikkaran, Yenda Thalaiyila Enna Vekkala, and the film festival movie My Son Is Gay.

In 2018, Maya's career took a soaring leap when Shankar cast her in his mega-blockbuster 2.0. She played a college student opposite Rajinikanth, and her performance earned her widespread acclaim. Maya's breakthrough role came in 2022 with Loki's Vikram, where she essayed a complex character with a dark past. Her portrayal of a slut was both bold and nuanced, and it cemented her position as one of the most promising actresses in Tamil cinema.

Maya is now poised to roar with her upcoming projects, Leo and Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram. She has also starred in three successful web series: Amazon Prime's Time Enna Boss and Enga Siri Paappom, and YouTube's 3BHK.
