Nazriya Nazim Biography

Nazriya Nazim (born 20 December 1994) is an Indian film actress, producer and television hostess in the South film industry. She made her debut as a child artist with Palunku (2006) and as a lead actress in the Malayalam film Maad Dad (2013). She has went on to star in films such as Raja Rani (2013), Ohm Shanthi Oshaana (2014), Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (2014), and Bangalore Days.

Personal life

 
Nazriya was born to Nazimudeen and Begum Beena. She has a brother, Naveen. Nazriya studied in Christ Nagar School, and Our Own English High School, Al Ain, UAE. She has stated that she wants to study something related to business and that she may take up either a Commerce or BBA course. In 2013, she joined Mar Ivanious College in Thiruvananthapuram, for BCom, but reportedly left the college, owing to her tight shooting schedules. Her family lived in Al Ain, UAE, before moving to Thiruvananthapuram.

Nazriya met Fahadh Fazil during the shooting of their film 'Banglore Days' in 2014. Before the release of the movie, they got engaged on 20 January 2014 and married on 21 August of the same year.


Career Life

 
Prior to pursuing a career as an actor, she began her career as a television host on the Malayalam television network Asianet. She made her debut as a child artist in the Malayalam film ' Palanku' directed by Blessy in 2006. A few years later, she made her debut as the female lead in 'Maad Dad'. The film was released in 2013 and received mixed reviews from both audiences and critics.

After that, she worked with actor Nivi Pauly for the movies Neram(2013) and Om Shaanthi Oshaana(2014). These two films were blockbusters in the theatres, and she gained much appreciation and acclaim for her performances from the audience.

Apart from acting in Malayalam cinema, she also acted in many Tamil films. She made her Tamil debut in 2013 with 'Raja Rani' directed by Atlee. It featured Arya, Nayanthara and Jay as the lead characters. The movie was a box-office hit and Nazriya became a prominent face among the Tamil audience. Her other Tamil film, along with Dhanush, was released and flopped at the box office.

Later, she acted in a film named ' Salalah Mobiles' directed by Sharath Haridas in 2014. The film starred Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role and bombed at the box-office. In the same year, she acted in another film with him named ' Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram'.

Anjali Menon's 'Banglore Days' was her another block-buster hit movie, starring Fahadh Fazil, Nivin Pualy, Dulquer Salman and Parvathy Thiruvoath in the lead roles. The film was received well and the total gross collection of the film made it the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time.

After the release of the film, Nazriya married actor Fahadh Fazil in 2014. She quit acting and made a comeback to the industry after four years with Anjali Menon's 'Koodea'. In 2020, the actor appeared on-screen with husband Fahadh Fazil in the movie 'Trance' and appeared in a cameo role in the film 'Maniyarayile Ashokan'. She then made her Telugu debut with 'Ante Sundaraniki' opposite Nani in 2022. The romantic-comedy film was directed by Vivek Atreya and dubbed in Tamil and Malayalam languages.


Awards

In 2015, Nazriya won his first Kerala State Award for best actress for the films
Ohm Shanthi Oshaana and Bhanglore Days.
