I was very impressed by the authenticity of the 1952 era and with the two protagonists. It is very understandable how a romance between two women or two men can emerge and why they would prefer their own sex. I was actually quite impressed to know during that time period an open gay relationship would be known of. I don't know what the protagonist's gender preference they are in actually but I think it could easily encourage a same sex encounter, either from watching the movie, or from thinking about something they never thought of before or experienced. I would imagine at least that Cate Blanchett would have no hang ups about doing this movie as she moves into many characters lives very easily. I do wonder if they did any private rehearsals of the love making scenes whilst in the process of making this movie a reality.
