The Huntsman: Winter's War Story

Prior to the story in Snow White and the Huntsman, the Evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) acquired the kingdom from the previous ruler and lives with her sister, Freya (Emily Blunt). After Freya gave birth to her baby, her fiancee Duke of Blackwood seemingly killed the child, causing Freya to unleash her icy power hidden in herself. Freya retreats to the land in the north, building an icy kingdom and ralling her men against other kingdoms to gain children to be trained as an army of Huntsmen. Freya forbids all love in her kingdom.

Years later, Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Sara (Jessica Chastain) are two Huntsmen trained under Freya's rule. The two love each other and vow to leave the kingdom; Freya agrees if they can make their way to each other. While Eric and Sara are making their way, Freya uses her icy power to create a wall of ice, showing to Eric that Sara was killed, and to Sara that Eric ran away. Eric was disposed to the river, and Sara was held imprisoned. Seven years later, after the events of Snow White and the Huntsman, King William (Sam Claflin) and dwarfs Nion (Nick Frost) and Gryff (Rob Brydon) find Eric in Snow White's kingdom,. William tells Eric that since Snow White's coming to rule, the Magic Mirror, which possess the powerful dark forces, disappeared while en route to Sanctuary, the area where its power may be contained. William noted that Snow White commanded Eric to find them and place them to Sanctuary. Eric discovered that Freya send a artificial bird to spy on them, and believed that Freya also attempted to seek the Magic Mirror into her own. They agrees that the Mirror shall not fall into wrong hands.

Eric, Nion and Gryff set out to discover the Magic Mirror. Upon their retreat, they were ambushed by another group of Huntsman, but was rescued by Sara. The four set forth to find the mirror but was trapped by dwarf Bromwyn (Sheridan Smith) and Doreena (Alexandra Roach). Eric shows them the diamond he found from the trace, and Bromwyn told them that the Goblins often hunts from valuable belongings and kept into somewhere near the Sanctuary where no entrants ever return. She and Bromwyn agrees to follow Eric to retrieve the mirror. The group was ambushed by the Goblins but was able to get the mirror for transport to the Sanctuary. On the next day, Freya's army took back the mirror and freeze Nion and Doreena, then order Sara to kill Eric. She deliberately shoot the arrow to his neck where he wear the necklace, seemingly killed him; Eric wake up later and vowed to face Freya at her icy kingdom.

Freya eventually activates the magic mirror, which turns out to be another form of her sister, Ravenna. Ravenna reveals she possessed herself into the magic mirror and await for someone to free her. The two sisters came into argument over the icy kingdom, during which Freya discovered that Ravenna cursed Duke of Blackwood into murdering her child. Meanwhile, Eric infiltrated the icy kingdom and attempt to murder Freya, but his arrow was stopped by Ravenna. Eric was able to convince a few huntsman to fight against Ravenna, claiming the love of brethren. Ravenna attempted to kill the huntsman, causing Freya to turn against her. Freya was killed, but not before she can freeze the magic mirror for Eric to throw the hammer to it, destroying the mirror and Ravenna's spirit in between. The dying Freya witnessed Eric and Sara together, and says they were lucky.

The icy kingdom and the frozen people was eventually freed, and Eric and Sara, Bromwyn and Gryff and Nion and Doreena expressed love to each other. The bird spirit of the magic mirror is seen flying above the icy kingdom.
