The Ant Bully is a witty and heart warming story about a 10 year old boy's amazing journey through the ant world. Directed by the Academy Award nominated filmmaker John A. Davis, the movie is produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman.
Lucas Nickle (Zack Tyler Eisen) is a 10 year old kid who is often besieged by his neighborhood kids. Lucas throws his frustration on the helpless insects living in his lawn. He sprays the ants with water or storms them with his feet. One day he blasts their home with water using his garden hose due to which the ants start running for their lives. The ants get aggravated and they decide to strike back. Using a magic potion prepared by Wizard Ant Zoc (Nicholas Cage), Lucas is miniaturized, kidnapped from his room and taken deep into the ant burrow. The ant Queen orders Lucas to live with the ants and learn their customs.
Lucas realizes that ants have a complex civilization with rules and responsibility, where every individual has to do a job. He finds that ants have emotions just like human beings. He learns that the ants work with a spirit of teamwork in order to save their colony. He also understands the true meaning of friendship. Staying in the ant kingdom Lucas gains the confidence to stand up for himself. His friendship with Nurse Ant Hova (Julia Roberts), Zoc's girlfriend teaches him the value of friendship and cooperation.
Lucas gets exhausted with the laborious work he has to do staying in the colony of ants. He fights off a wasp attack and tries to return to normal size.
Among the other characters are Fugax (Bruce Campbell), the scout ant who works with great pride and courage and Kreela (Regina King) who is the foraging instructor to the ants.
