The Simpsons wins an Emmy

The Simpsons grab the U.S television's highest prize for a prime-time cartoon on Saturday beating South Park episode satirizing Scientology and Tom Cruise.

Named as the best animated show, it is the longest-running American sitcom and the longest-running American animated program to date. The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox network.

Former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer claimed an Emmy for his voice work as The Simpsons character Sideshow Bob.

The 58th annual Primetime Emmy Awards from the Academy of Television Arts&Sciences will also honour Rome: Caesarion, Triumph, Kalends of February by HBO for its art direction.
