donate
$1.3
million
to
the
September
11
memorial,
honoring
their
promise
of
donating
5
percent
of
the
movie's
opening
weekend
box
office
receipts
to
the
foundation.
Three
other
9/11
charities
named
Tuesday's
Children,
the
Tribute
WTC
Visitor
Center,
and
the
New
York
Police
and
Fire
Widows'
and
Children's
Benefit
Fund
will
have
a
equal
share
from
another
$1.3
million
amount.
Starring
Nicholas
Cage
and
Michael
Pena,
the
movie
grossed
more
than
$50
million
in
the
box
office.
Cage
and
Pena
play
the
role
of
two
police
officers
trapped
under
the
rubble
of
the
Twin
Towers.
The
filmmakers
had
promised
that
they
will
donate
10
percent
of
its
August
9-13
box
office
receipts
to
the
foundation
and
the
three
charities.
According
to
reports
the
foundation
will
be
opened
by
2009.
