Melbourne
(ANI):
Michael
Bay
has
reportedly
set
his
sights
on
directing
a
film
version
of
'2012:
The
War
for
the
Souls".
Author
Whitley
Strieber,
on
whose
sci-fi
novel
the
movie
will
be
based,
revealed
that
news
to
Sci
Fi
Wire.
"I
don't
know
if
he
will
direct
it
for
sure,
but
I
know
he
is
interested
in
directing
it," Moviehole
quoted
Strieber,
as
telling
Sci
Fi
Wire.
He
however
added
that
Bay
is
sure
to
be
a
producer
on
the
pic
seeing
that
his
company
bought
the
film
rights
to
the
novel.
"Michael
Bay's
company
did
buy
the
rights
to
2012,
though,
and
he
will
at
least
produce
it,"
Streiber
added.
The
plot
revolves
around
an
academic
researcher
who
discovers
that
multiple
versions
of
Earth
co-exist
in
different
dimensions,
but
all
are
threatened
by
an
apocalypse
to
occur
in
2012
prophesied
by
the
ancient
Mayans.
By
opening
a
portal
into
a
parallel
universe,
he
makes
contact
with
his
double
to
stop
the
prophecy
from
being
fulfilled.
Moviehole
also
reports
that
Bay
and
Transformers
writers
Alex
Kurtzman
and
Roberto
Orci
co-own
the
rights
to
the
tale.
