Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was desperate to know whether or not his character would still be alive by the end of the final book. Author JK Rowling reveals that Radcliffe had been so concerned about Harry dying in 'The Deathly Hallows' that when she took him out for dinner to discuss the character, he begged her to reveal his fate.

"At one point, during dinner, he said, 'Look, I've just got to ask you, 'Do I die?'" Contactmusic quoted her, as saying. Rowling adds that she barely managed to field the question by giving Radcliffe a roundabout answer, without revealing whether Potter would live or die.

"I thought quick and I whispered, so no one else could hear, 'You get a death scene.' But Dan's very smart and I'm pretty sure he would have walked away from that dinner thinking, 'Yeah, I get a death scene but what does that mean?'" she said.

The Harry Potter series came to an end recently when the final book - The Deathly Hallows - was released worldwide on July 21.
