Washington (ANI): Actor Kevin Costner is all set to star in thriller "The New Daughter." The pic is an adaptation by John Travis from a story by John Connolly, published in his short fiction collection "Nocturnes." Spanish director Luiso Berdejo is wearing the director"s hat in the pic, which would be his English movie debut. Paul Brooks will be the producer, and Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt will be the executive producers.

The film will be fully financed by Gold Circle and Mandate Pictures will handle the international sales, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The movie revolves around Costner who will play John James, a single father who moves to a farm with his two kids after a painful divorce. His daughter, Ivana Baquero of "Pan's Labyrinth", starts behaving ominously. The reason behind such behavior turns out something to do with the burial mound in a field nearby their house.

Principal photography is set to begin in the first quarter of 2008. Gold Circle's Guy Danella brought the material to the company and shepherded its development with senior executive Brad Kessell.
