Owen Wilson out of Tropic Thunder

Washington (ANI): Actor Owen Wilson has dropped out of DreamWorks" ensemble comedy 'Tropic Thunder" a few days after attempting to commit suicide at his LA home. The actor slashed his wrists, and reportedly took an overdose of pills over the weekend. He was found by his brother who quickly alerted the cops, after which Wilson was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Wilson began shooting 'Tropic Thunder" six weeks ago in Hawaii but has now opted out of it as he recovers.The movie is being produced by actor Ben Stiller"s Red Hour Films, and also stars Jack Black.

"Ben and Owen have made eight movies together. And he can't wait to work with Owen again. It's just not going to be on this film," Variety quoted a source close to the project, as saying. The movie revolves around a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie who are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.

In a statement, the actor said that he needed time to heal, and asked the press and paparazzi to allow him to do so in private. "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," People quoted him, as saying. The actor is recovering in hospital after reportedly slashing his wrists following months of depression following his split from Kate Hudson.He is also said to have taken a pills overdose.

Though a spokeswoman for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre confirmed that the actor was being treated at the hospital, she did not give any reasons for his admission. However, Extra reports that he may have tried to commit suicide over the weekend. The show also stated that it was the actor"s brother Andrew who found him, and immediately dialled the emergency number. The Santa Monica Police issued a statement of their own, confirming that medics were called in to Wilson"s house.

"At 12:10 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to assist the Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics with a medical aid call in the 900 block of 23rd Street," Usmagazine.com quoted a spokesperson, as saying. Wilson has recently been filming Tropic Thunder, directed by his close friend Ben Stiller.
