Washington (ANI): The latest actor to join the star-studded cast of Mira Nair's "Amelia," is Ewan McGregor. The 'Moulin Rouge' star will be joining the likes of Hilary Swank, Richard Gere and Virginia Madsen, who have already been roped in for playing various characters in the movie. Ronald Bass"s screenplay traces the story of the legendary aviatrix (Swank) and records her rise to fame, marriage to publisher c) and passionate affair with Gene Vidal (McGregor), father of author Gore Vidal.

It's been a long time since the filmmakers have been trying to land McGregor but could not work out a feasible schedule, reports Variety. After completing "I Love You, Philip Morris" alongside Jim Carrey, the actor will start working on Ron Howard's Da Vinci Code follow-up "Angels and Demons" in early June and will be sandwiching the "Amelia" role in between.

Produced by Ted Waitt, Lydia Dean Pilcher and Kevin Hyman, the filme is being shot in Toronto. The executive producers of the film are Don Carmody, Bass and Swank.
