husband
to
iconic
leading
lady
Audrey
Hepburn,
Mel
Ferrer
passed
away
at
the
age
of
90,
a
spokesman
for
his
family
has
said.
The
star
of
the
epic
period
dramas
War
and
Peace
and
The
Sun
Also
Rises
died
on
June
2
at
his
ranch
in
California
surrounded
by
family
and
friends.
Ferrer's
son
Mark
said
his
dad
had
been
in
failing
health
for
about
six
months.
"It's
a
sad
occasion,
but
he
did
live
a
long
and
productive
life," BBC
quoted
family
spokesman
Mike
Mena,
as
saying.
Ferrer
and
Hepburn
became
engaged
in
1954
when
appearing
together
in
the
New
York
play
'Ondine,'
and
married
later
that
year.
Later
in
his
career,
Ferrer
increasingly
directed
and
produced
films
for
television.
Ferrer
and
Hepburn
divorced
in
1968.
