London
(ANI):
Andrew
Sachs,
who
recently
hit
the
headlines
following
a
lewd
prank
call
made
by
Brit
RJ
Russell
Brand,
is
set
to
star
in
one
of
the
longest-running
TV
programmes
in
the
UK,
'Coronation
Street'.
The
78-year-old
veteran,
best
known
for
his
portrayal
of
Manuel
in
'Fawlty
Towers',
would
grace
the
cast
of
the
soap
opera,
whose
7000th
episode
is
due
to
broadcast
on
January
28.
"Yes,
I
can
confirm
that
Andrew
Sachs
has
taken
us
up
on
the
offer.
He
will
be
joining
us
later
this
year," the
Daily
Express
quoted
an
ITV
spokesman
as
saying.
Sachs
had
received
four
messages
on
his
home
phone
from
RJ
Brand
and
DJ
Jonathan
Ross
claiming
the
former
had
slept
with
his
granddaughter.
The
infamous
October
incident,
in
which
Brand
spoke
of
his
prior
sexual
relationship
with
the
goth-styled
model
while
Ross
passed
lewd
comments,
had
led
to
a
record
number
of
complaints
and
criticism
resulting
in
the
suspension
of
both
presenters
from
their
positions
at
the
BBC
Radio
2.
The
Brit
actor
revealed
that
he
had
been
'absurdly
busy'
since
the
radio
scandal.
He
said:
"Things
have
been
piling
up
since
this
whole
Ross
business.
This
is
a
dodgy
profession
generally
and
I
always
think
my
last
job
will
be
my
final
job."
