London
(ANI):
Acclaimed
director
Roman
Polanski's
arrest
has
distressed
his
victim,
who
has
become
centre
of
the
story
again
almost
thirty
years
after
the
crime,
according
to
her
family.
Samantha
Gailey
(now
Samantha
Geimer)
was
13
when
Polaski
sexually
abused
her.
The
director
was
initially
charged
of
rape
by
the
use
of
drugs,
perversion
and
sodomy.
Later
these
charges
were
quashed
under
his
plea
bargain
and
he
pleaded
guilty
to
the
lesser
charge
of
engaging
in
unlawful
sexual
intercourse
with
a
minor.
The
45-year-old
Geimer
had
been
living
a
settled
and
peaceful
life
with
her
husband
and
three
children
on
the
Hawaiian
island
of
Kauai,
until
she
found
out
Polanski
had
been
arrested.
The
Telegraph
quoted
her
20-year-old
son
Jaimi,
as
saying:
"She's
sick
of
it.
She
was
at
a
family
reunion
when
all
this
blew
up
again.
“She's
told
us
to
just
hunker
down
until
she
gets
back
and
it's
up
to
her
whether
she
wants
to
say
anything
about
it.
She'll
be
distraught
that
it's
been
dragged
up
again.
It
should
have
been
finished
and
she
just
wants
it
to
go
away
but
by
arresting
him
it's
all
come
back
again," said
a
neighbour.
"She
lives
a
quiet
life
here
and
doesn't
want
that
ruined.
She
doesn't
want
anything
to
do
with
it
anymore
and
I'm
sure
if
they
want
her
to
give
evidence
or
anything
like
that
she
wouldn't," the
neighbour
added.
After
saying
in
a
2008
interview
that
Polanski
should
be
forgiven,
Geimer
made
an
appeal
in
the
court
earlier
this
year
asking
charges
against
him
to
be
dismissed.
