Rachel Wood to star in Spider-Man stage musical

Washington (ANI): Actress Evan Rachel Wood has been roped in to star as Mary Jane Watson in the Spider-Man stage musical. Earlier, show's director Julie Taymor had denied that Wood would play the superhero's love interest.

However, according to Moviefone.com, The Wrestler star has confirmed she's preparing to make her Broadway debut in the show, which opens in New York next February. The musical, which will feature tracks by U2 stars Bono and The Edge, will reunite Taymor with Wood - she previously directed the 21-year-old in 2007 movie Across The Universe, reports Contactmusic.

Meanwhile, the actress seems to be enjoying her single status to the fullest after split with shock rocker Marilyn Mansion. Wood was seen getting cozy with actor Shane West at Tao in Las Vegas late Saturday night along with a group of friends.
