UK"s
Channel
4
is
set
to
close
doors
on
its
15-year
association
with
hit
US
TV
series
Friends.
The
station
and
distributor
Warner
Bros
were
said
to
have
reached
an
agreement
to
end
its
rights
to
the
series
in
2011.
The
channel
said
the
move
was
to
encourage
“creative
renewal" and
to
"refresh
the
schedule".
"After
15
years,
10
hit
series
and
236
terrific
episodes
it's
time
to
say
goodbye
to
old
Friends
and
welcome
new
ones,
in
the
form
of
more
comedy,
drama
and
entertainment
from
the
US
and
UK," the
Mirror
quoted
Gill
Hay,
head
of
acquisitions,
as
saying.
“We
are
incredibly
proud
to
have
been
the
home
of
Friends
for
so
long,
but
at
a
point
when
the
channel
is
undergoing
a
period
of
creative
renewal
it
felt
like
the
right
time
to
part
company,"
Hay
added.
