Channel 4 divorces Friends

London (ANI): UK"s Channel 4 is set to close doors on its 15-year association with hit US TV series Friends. The station and distributor Warner Bros were said to have reached an agreement to end its rights to the series in 2011. The channel said the move was to encourage “creative renewal" and to "refresh the schedule".

"After 15 years, 10 hit series and 236 terrific episodes it's time to say goodbye to old Friends and welcome new ones, in the form of more comedy, drama and entertainment from the US and UK," the Mirror quoted Gill Hay, head of acquisitions, as saying.

“We are incredibly proud to have been the home of Friends for so long, but at a point when the channel is undergoing a period of creative renewal it felt like the right time to part company," Hay added.
