Elle Macpherson backs cervical cancer awareness campaign

London (ANI): Australian model Elle Macpherson has joined a charity campaign to raise awareness of women"s health in a bid to drive down cervical cancer rates. Macpherson, 46, lent her support to Wellbeing of Women, which funds screenings and vaccinations for females in the U.K., and she is urging them to visit their doctor regularly for health checks.

“Many women don"t take time out to be checked routinely, sometimes choosing to ignore it or worry about being checked," the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

“It"s easy to think: It won"t happen to me, or I don"t want to know what"s going on. The fact is, I always feel better after going to see the doctor for my regular checks. I know that I"m okay and that I"ve been responsible and faced my fears. Please get checked, ladies," she added.
