Discovery is Oprah's corporate partner on the new channel. However, it was unknown whether Oprah herself would do a show for the cable channel - or just appear on promotional spots. "We are working through how much Oprah we will have on the Oprah Winfrey Network," the New York Post quoted Brad Singer, chief financial officer of the Discovery channel, as saying.
He said Discovery was pushing hard for Oprah to commit to being a regular presence on the channel. "She owns half of it. So that's a pretty good incentive to make it work," he said. OWN will replace the Discovery Health channel.
