Alec Baldwin to star in Woody Allen's new project

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin is reportedly set to join the team of Woody Allen for his new project, which will be shot in Rome. Actress Penelope Cruz has already been roped in to play the female lead. Now sources say that Baldwin has signed up for the movie, but it is not clear what character he will play in it.

Alec Baldwin has already worked with Woody Allen in his previous venture Alice, which was released in 1990. He has played Ed, the first lover of Alice in the comedy film. Now, he is said to be ready to work with the director again. Besides direction, Allen himself has written the script for the film, which is expected to hit the screens in 2012.

However, Alec Baldwin is very popular for his role Jack Donaghy on NBC TV comedy '30 Rock'. Recently, he was in news for commenting on the end of the show. He had said that his and Tina Fey's contract with NBC will expire in 2012. With this, the hit TV show will go off air.
