First Spider-Man comic book fetches $1.1M

The first Spider-Man comic book has fetched a whopping amount of 1.1 million dollars in an online auction. The auction of the Marvel comic book was held through ComicConnect.com. The big sale has been bested only by the 1.5 million dollars price reached for Superman's 1938 debut comic book last year.

The first copy of Spider-Man comic book was released in1962 and it was sold for just 12 cents five decades ago. Now, sources claim that the comic book was in an excellent condition. Its cover depicts the spidery avenger, who was known as the meek Peter Parkerin his other life, swinging from a high building with a man under his right arm.

Stephen Fishler, the founder of ComicConnect.com, has released a statement to the media. In his statement, he writes, "The late 1950s and early 1960s are considered the Silver Age for comic books. People have often wondered how much this near-perfect condition book would sell for, and today we found out."
