Get a glimpse of Gerard Butler's Machine Gun Preacher first look

By Ramchander

The first look of Gerard Butler's Machine Gun Preacher has been released. As expected, it shows the backdrop of a war-torn country in Africa and the actor as a man, who dedicates his life to save the children from joining military.

Recalling his earlier characters of Spartan ruler in 300 and the heinous Hun in Attila, Gerard Butler says that the role is completely different, as the story is set in the modern times. "Those other roles were based on historic characters who became the stuff of legend, but Sam is a guy of our times,"

He will be seen as a biker-turned-businessman, who gives his helping hands for the abused would-be recruits of the Lord's Resistance Army. He further adds, “There is more complexity in a modern-day character who's a drug addict and a biker turned businessman, missionary and soldier. You don't get roles like this very often."

Machine Gun Preacher, which is directed by Marc Foster, also features Michelle Monaghan, Michael Shannon and Kathy Baker. The movie is expected to hit the screens in October 23 in the US.
