Sean Hayes set to play Larry in The Three Stooges

Actor Sean Hayes, who is popular for his work as Jack McFarland in TV"s 'Will & Grace', is now set to star in the 20th Century Fox's comedy The Three Stooges, which is being directed by Farrelly brothers. The TV star is playing Larry in the upcoming movie. He will join hands with Will Sasso, who is roped in to portray Curly.

Earlier, Sean Penn was said to play Larry, but now the official site of the film claims that Sean Hayes would reprise the role in The Three Stooges. According to the site, Sean has physical comedy chops and showed during readings that he had the ability to play a lovable simpleton, something that amateur boxer-turned-punching bag Larry Fine did so well.

Movie The Three Stooges is not a biopic, but it will be divided into roughly half-hour vignettes. Bobby and Peter Farrelly are writing the script and on board to direct it. They are planning to kick off principal photography in mid-April. The goal of the movie is 85 minutes of laughs in a film that will be very respectful of who the Stooges were.
