The Adventures of Tintin gets a grand box office opening in India

Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is the highest opening animated film in India. The film collected nearly Rs 7.35 crore at the three day box office.

The Adventures of Tintin, that released with more than 350 prints had a 90-100% occupancy in most theatres. The film managed to win the hearts of all major critics by acquiring 3.5 to 4 ratings. Long queues were noticed outside many theatres across the country. The Adventures of Tintin is the first animated film to venture in small cities like Alwar, Gwalior, Akola, Amravati, Madurai, Salem, Trichur and many more.

The Adventures of Tintin has collected more than $159m in box office collections through its recent release in Europe alone and has broken several records in countries like France and Belgium.

Speaking about the collection of The Adventures of Tintin at the box office, Mr Kercy Daruwala, Managing Director - Sony Pictures India said, “The film's collections have increased day upon day and we expect to see the film sustain strongly based on excellent word of mouth."

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn stars Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Defiance) as Tintin, the young reporter whose pursuit of a good story throws him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, Defiance) as the nefarious Red Rackham.
