The producer of Titanic, Jon Landau has said that Kate was suitable for the role of Rose because she's no model like Gisele Bundchen or Cindy Crawford and ordinary women can relate to her.

Jon Landau has described Rose as beautiful and thinks that women can aspire to be like Rose, whose self determination to make the decision to leave the luxurious life she's been in and to follow her heart is exemplary. He says the character of Rose is inspirational as she goes on to lead a full and enriched life despite facing tragedy of epic proportions, including losing the love of her life in the freezing waters in the North Atlantic.

Although Kate Winslet denies stalking the director for the role, she thanks her stars for letting Cameron take a risk in casting her. She says she got lucky because a lot of her contemporaries like Uma Thurman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Winona Ryder had more chances of bagging the role.

Meanwhile, director James Cameron feels he was the lucky one to have found the perfect Rose. He says Kate had a powerful intelligence and strength of personality and a vulnerability that made him choose her. He knew whoever he would cast would have to carry the movie on her shoulders, and according to the director who is known to be perfectionist, Kate has been flawless.
