Oprah Winfrey gets royal welcome at City Palace - Jaipur

American talk show queen Oprah Winfrey was given a royal welcome at the City Palace – Jaipur. According to the sources, Winfrey was accompanied by writer Deepak Chopra and his wife in the city palace. On the main gate of the palace, she was received by a procession comprising elephants, horses and camels.

Oprah Winfrey was taken in the royal horse carriage from the main gate to the Chandra Mahal Palace. At the Chandra Mahal, the guests were given a red carpet welcome with a traditional aarti. They were escorted by 'Chaddi Chobdars', the traditional attendees, in the mahal and later greeted by Diya Kumari and her husband Narendra Singh, both members of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family.

On the occasion, the entire city palace was well decorated and lit up. The guests were taken to 'Sukh Niwas' where they met Padmini Devi, another royal family member. After the formal meeting the guests were invited to dinner in the private dining room. They were also presented with silver Ganga urns. Winfrey is in the city to participate in ongoing Literature Festival.
