Sofia Vergara confirms plans for second child

Los Angeles: Actress Sofia Vergara has confirmed to Vogue that she is preparing to have a second child through a process that involves freezing her eggs. The 40-year-old Modern Family star said she has to be careful of what she eats and that she is already taking hormone pills, to be followed by injections. The Colombian actress' first child Manolo Gonzalez is 21.

Talking to Vogue magazine, Sofia Vergara said, "They want to get as many good eggs as they can because usually you produce them but they're not good. They have to be perfect, perfect, perfect ones." The actress added, "My boyfriend (Nick Loeb) is 37, younger than me, never had kids. So..."

Sofia Vergara, who has earned $19 million in 2012 to become the highest-paid woman on television, proudly displayed the engagement ring Loeb gave her last year. The actress further said, "I love it, because it's big enough. If it had been bigger, I couldn't have worn it every day. And if it had been smaller, I wouldn't have liked it."

However, Sofia Vergara was married at the age of 18 to her childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez and she gave birth to their son in September 1992. The couple got divorced two years after their marriage. She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000. She followed the doctors' treatment and made a full recovery. She and her businessman boyfriend Nick Loeb were engaged on July 10, 2012.
