The Wolverine First Weekend Collection At Indian Box Office

Hugh Jackman's starrer film The Wolverine, which released July 26, has collected Rs.15 crore at the Indian Box Office in its first weekend. The James Mangold-directed Hollywood movie has topped the business chart in the country, beating the Hindi flicks like Bajatey Raho, Nasha, Issaq and Luv U Soniyo.

"The Wolverine has garnered an astounding Rs.15 crore gross (Rs 10.5 crore nett) in its opening weekend in the country," read an official statement. "The opening weekend of the film also ranks as the third highest of all time for the production house's (distributor Fox Star Studios) Hollywood title after Avatar and Life of Pi," the statement added.


Jointly produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, Hugh Jackman, Hutch Parker and John Palermo, the film received an overwhelming response. Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, said: "We are elated at the exceptional opening figures. The success of The Wolverine has effectively set the platform for our next year's biggie X Men: Days of Future Past."

Intended to be the sixth installment in the X-Men film franchise, The Wolverine tracks the story of the American-Australian superhero Wolverine, who in association with an old acquaintance in Japan, fights a new battle. Directed by double Oscar-winning James Mangold, the movie also features Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Hiroyuki Sanada, Will Yun Lee and Brain Tee.
