Upcoming Hollywood Biopic Movies You Can't Miss!

Hollywood movies based on true events and stories have always tempted us more than the fictitious ones. The year 2014 has been very memorable as many brilliant movies have come in the first half. In the second half of the year, we have some really interesting biopics which would be worth watching.

For example, 'The Imitation Game' which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival has bagged the People's Choice Award. The movie which stars Benedict Cumberbatch shows the struggle of Alan Turing during the WWII.

The famous British mathematician and code-breaker Alan Turing was convicted in 1951 for gross indecency over a homosexual act which was then illegal and a crime in UK. He died in 1954, 16 days before his 42nd birthday, due to cyanide poisoning.

Benedict who played the famous Alan Turing has been getting many accolades for his breathtaking performance in 'The Imitation Game'. The Sherlock star is seen playing Alan Turing, the Second World War code-breaker in 'The Imitation Game'.

The Imitation Game

The movie is based on the life of Alan Turing and shows the activities of the code-breaker during WWII. Alan Turing is also considered to be the founding father of the modern-day computer. The movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Ala Turing has been premiered in Telluride Film Festival (USA) and Toronto International Film Festival (Canada). The Imitation Game will hit theatres in November.

Walt Before Mickey

We have all seen Disney and love the animations. Well, little was known about the creator of these animated shows, Walt Disney. Thus, Walt Before Mickey is an upcoming biopic movie which takes us way back into the story of Walt Disney. Walt Before Mickey is a feature film based on the book of the same name. Thomas Ian Nicholas is playing Walt Disney. The Hollywood movie based on a real life story will release on 28th November.

Jimi: All Is By My Side

From John Ridley, the writer-director of Oscar winning 12 Years A Slave, comes a biopic on the legend musician, Jimi Hendrix. The movie starring Andre Lauren as Jimi Hendrix shows the journey from a backstage guitarist to the main scene. The biopic opens on September 26 in 16 American cities.

Houdini Miniseries

This is another biopic which shows the struggles of Adrien Brody and Kristen Connolly as Harry and Bess Houdini and their rise from poverty to fame. Houdini is a two-part, four hour History channel event miniseries written by Nicholas Meyer and directed by Uli Edel. It premiered on September 1 and 2, 2014.

The Theory of Everything

The biopic shows the life of the most celebrated physicist of our time, Stephen Hawking, and his wife Jane Wilde. Hawking is also referred to as the successor to Einstein.


The biopic shows the 2009 arrest and detainment of Iranian-Canadian journalist, Maziar Bahari in Iran. The movie will show the 2009 Presidential election in Iran, and how Gael García Bernal as Maziar Bahari was imprisoned for more than 100 days and brutally interrogated.


Based on the true story again comes a movie Foxcatcher where John du Pont, the American multimillionaire was convicted of murdering Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz. The movie starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo will release in November.


This is another upcoming biopic directed by Angelina Jolie. Unbroken is based on the true story of Louis Zamperini the Olympic runner, and American World War II prisoner of war survivor. The movie is slated to release this Christmas.
