We
had
a
lot
of
expectations
from
Oscar
2015
host,
Neil
Patrick
Harris.
It
was
the
first
time,
the
actor
took
the
stage
control
to
host
the
biggest
awards
of
the
year.
Looking
at
the
Oscar
commercials
which
started
months
before
the
Academy
Awards
was
hosted
tonight,
we
were
expecting
the
actor
to
deliver
some
fun
filled
liners
and
jokes
that
would
entertain
us.
However,
Neil
Patrick
Harris
did
not
make
it
up
to
the
expectations,
and
was
indeed
one
of
the
hosts
in
Oscars
history
who
was
slow
and
made
us
fall
sleepy
with
his
poor
hosting
skills.
From
the
very
opening
monologue,
Neil
Patrick
Harris
tried
to
start
with
a
singing
opening
number
which
also
included
Anna
Kendrick.
His
sentence
"Welcome
to
the
87th
Oscars.
Tonight
we
honour
Hollywood's
best
and
whitest
-
sorry,
brightest,"
drew
attention
to
the
criticism
about
the
awards'
lack
of
diversity.
Neil
Patrick
Harris
also
tried
the
Birdman
gag
where
he
brought
the
scene
(where
Micheal
Keaton
roams
the
street
of
New
York
wearing
a
white
underwear)
on
the
Oscars
stage.
NPH
literally
came
to
host
wearing
a
white
undie.
Earlie
he
informed
about
his
predictions
counted
by
PricewaterhouseCoopers
which
he
would
reveal
later
during
the
ceremony.
After
playing
a
lot
and
asking
Octavia
Spencer
to
guard
it
throughout,
the
host
finally
revealed
his
predictions
when
we
had
lost
all
interest
and
curiosity.
The
predictions
included
Harris
mispronouncing
Chiwetel
Ejiofor's
name
intentionally
to
get
it
correct,
Terrence
Howard
getting
surprisingly
emotional
during
his
acceptance
speech,
John
Travolta's
gag
on
touching
Idina
Menzel's
face
and
then
coming
with
an
apology
next
year,
etc
were
a
bit
okay!
Although
Neil
Patrick
Harris
tried
some
jokes
and
one-liners
as
well
while
welcoming
presenters
on
the
stage,
he
hardly
made
anyone
laugh.
For
example,
while
introducing
Reese
Witherspoon,
he
said,
"This
Oscar
presenter
is
so
lovely
you
could
eat
her
up
with
a
spoon."
In
one
of
the
jokes,
Neil
Patrick
Harris
also
joked
about
how
David
Oyelowo's
black
colour
misunderstands
him
even
though
he
is
a
British.
He
even
makes
David
bring
his
British
accent
at
the
ceremony
and
made
him
read
an
old
joke
on
'Annie'
remake.
A
few
days
back,
Neil
revealed
at
The
Ellen
Show
that
he
was
really
nervous
on
hosting
Oscars
and
is
working
really
hard.
Well,
he
actually
looked
nervous.
Unfortunately,
he
failed
to
make
up
for
the
entertainer
and
comedian,
Ellen
DeGeneres
who
made
Oscars
2014
worth
watching
again
and
again.
