The 'Sharp-Tongued' Ricky Gervais Broke His Vows : Agreed To Emcee Golden Globe Awards 2016

By Chaitra K

Ricky Gervais, known for his sharp tongue and mean sense of humor is all set to host the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards in 2016, in spite of making a vow not to ever do it again.

The actor and comedian took to Twitter announce the news of his return to Golden Globes and said, "It's a good job I'm drunk. Otherwise the thought of hosting The Golden Globes again would seem like a real pain in the arse."

Post 2012 Golden Globes, he wrote an official blog on the event."Thank f**k that's over. I've told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again though. It's like a parachute jump."

Ricky Gervais posted a picture of his on twitter, opening a bottle of champagne to celebrate his new contract with the award show. He captioned it as, "Can't wait to host The Golden Globes again. My only guarantee is that not everyone will enjoy it as much as me."

Doesn't look like he Ricky is good at sticking to his words as good as he is at mocking someone else's sexuality and sex life. The president of NBC sounded much pleased and excited about having Ricky back on Golden Globe Awards 2016.

Some of his notable comments while hosting Golden Globe Awards are:

His Homosexuality Jokes On Jim & Ewan

"Also not nominated, I Love You Phillip Morris. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay. So the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists, then. My lawyers helped with that joke."

"Actors aren't just loved here in Hollywood, they are loved the world over. You could be in the third world and get a glimpse of a Hollywood star and it could make you feel a little bit better. You could be a little Asian child with no possessions and no money. But you could see a picture of Angelina Jolie and you'd think, ‘Mummy!"

The title of her famous song "Like A Virgin" is at odds with her colourful romantic life. The singer responded, "Ricky, if I am just like a virgin why don't you come over here and do something about it?"

"Talking of the walking dead, congratulations to Hugh Hefner, who is getting married at age 84 to 24-year-old beauty Crystal Harris. When asked why she was marrying him, she said, 'He lied about his age. He told me he was 94'. Just don't look at it when you touch it."

"Looking at all the wonderful faces here today reminds me of the great work that's been done this year... by cosmetic surgeons. I've had some work done, too. I've had a penis reduction. Just got the one now. And it is very tiny. But then so are my hands, so when I'm holding it it looks pretty big. "

Once the decision on the host for the forthcoming event was made, Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment Chairman said, "Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor - and send up - the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seat belts."

Gervais seemed to have sobered down and brought his tone down during 2012 Golden Globe Awards. But, you can never say what's awaiting to spill out of the comedian's mouth during Golden Globe Awards 2016. So we better fasten our seat belts, wait and watch!
