World Cancer Day: Hollywood Stars Who Battled The Disease

Today is World Cancer Day. Cancer is a deadly disease which can break you down. However, there are some famous Hollywood celebrities who suffered from cancer, and fought the battle with a positive and proactive approach. It is really inspiring to see such stars who do not lose hope and try to win the battle against the disease and survive for a happy and a fresh new life.

From Angelina Jolie to Michael Douglas, some of the A-listers have fought different types of cancer and are living a healthy life post surgery and treatments.

Breast Cancer is one of the most common forms of the deadly disease which has not just affected Angelina Jolie, but even other stars Kylie Minogue, Barbara Mori, Sheryl Crow and Cynthia Nixon to name a few.

Michael Douglas

In an interview with The Guardian, the handsome actor revealed that he had throat cancer which he believed was due to smoking and drinking. However, it was oral sex that caused this particular HPV. In 2010, he told David Letterman on his show that it was stage 4, but now he is cancer free.

Angelina Jolie

One of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood revealed that she underwent a double mastectomy recently to prevent breast cancer. Even her mother died of this fatal disease.

Lance Armstrong

The famous sportsperson went on to win the Tour De France (cycling competition) 7 times after he was cured of terminal testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs and brain. He is the sensational legend who popularized the yellow wristbands (live-strong).

Kylie Minogue

The Australian pop singer is was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. She underwent chemotherapy and recovered successfully.

Christina Applegate

She underwent a double mastectomy after doctors found cancerous lumps in one of her breasts in 2008. After battling the disease, she founded Right Action for Women, a breast cancer foundation to spread the awareness.

Cynthia Nixon

The Sex and the City actress also fought breast cancer. he was diagnosed with breast cancer during a regular mammogram. She underwent around 6 weeks of radiation and a lumpectomy.

Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow battled breast cancer in 2006. The battle changed her life and the following year she adopted her son, Wyatt.

Jaclyn Smith

Former ‘Charlie's Angles' star Jaclyn Smith battled breast cancer in 2003 following a regular mammogram.

Barbara Mori

The Spanish actress too was diagnosed with breast cancer at an early age of 29. After treatment, the actress is doing good and spreading awareness of breast cancer.

Sharon Osbourne

Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy in 2002.

Robert De Niro

The American actor and film producer was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2003. However, he underwent a surgery and is cancer-free now.

Angie Everhart

The former supermodel revealed in 2013 that she had throat cancer. However, the former Sports Illustrated model underwent a surgery and is free from the disease.
