Renowned
actor
David
Oyelowo,
who
has
been
speaking
about
including
more
diversity
in
the
arena
of
television
and
films,
states
that
he
is
very
much
disappointed
over
a
fantasy
TV
series
like
Game
of
Thrones
because
it
casts
the
ethnic
minorities
in
secondary
roles.
David
Oyelowo,
who
is
also
a
Golden
Globe
nominee,
lashed
out
at
the
popular
fantasy
TV
series
over
the
discrimination
issue.
Oyelowo
stated,
"The
fact
that
they
put
any
ethnic
minorities
in
that
means
that
there
should
be
space
for
bigger
characters
because
you
are
not
just
saying
Okay,
this
is
purely
a
white
world,
and
here
are
very
story-driven
reasons
why
that
is
the
case."
"So
for
me,
there
is
absolutely
no
excuse
in
a
show
like
that
why
there
aren't
more
prominent
characters
of
colour." Oyelowo
added.
Even
with
the
fact
that
the
popular
HBO
series
Game
of
Thrones,
has
casted
several
people
of
different
cast
and
creed,
the
British-Nigerian
actor
felt
otherwise.
He
said
ethnic
minorities
have
never
been
casted
in
the
forefront,
in
the
five-year
history.
He
opined
that
the
discrimination
and
the
lack
of
diversity
across
all
TV
and
films
is
a
major
issue
that
needs
to
be
sorted
out
immediately.
"We
can
all,
I
think,
hope
that
our
future
is
going
be
more
colourful
than
what
our
past
has
been,
certainly
in
terms
of
cinematic
depictions." Oyelowo
concluded.
