Ron Clements, who is co-directing the movie Moana, feels that
the actor Dwayne Johnson has been the right choice for lending
voice to the character Maui in the Disney film.
Ron also stated that only Johnson could do justice to the
character as he owns all the elements to fit the animated character
in the movie.
"He is very connected to his Samoan roots. Maui is a charismatic
character and Dwayne is nothing if not charismatic. He has great
comedic timing, nails the action scenes and is so likable. And he
can sing," Clements said.
The film Moana will also see Johnson making his singing debut
besides lending his voice for the movie.
The movie Moana will be co-directed by John Musker and Clements.
It is the story of an adventurous little girl who will set sail on
a quest to save her people, along with the help of a demigod named
Clements is all praise for the character of Maui and said, "He
has an all-encompassing drive to succeed that gets him into
trouble, but facing the reason behind it isn't easy."
Johnson, on the other hand, is also pretty excited to be
associated with the animated movie Moana, "To tell a story inspired
by the South Pacific is a great honour," said Johnson.
