The infamous Manga series, Ghost in The Shell, gets to breathe fresh air in this live action adaption of the same name!
Last year, it was confirmed that Scarlett Johannson would be playing Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg dedicated to take down the most dangerous cyber criminals. Major will be leading the elite task force to hunt down these criminals.
Although, the original Manga had mostly Asian characters, introducing a western actor to play the lead role that originally had an Asian woman (Manga) was a concern to all the fans of the popular series.
After the first look of the character was released, people are convinced that may be Scarlett Johannson could perhaps pull this off. The production of the movie, recently began in Wellington, New Zealand. The producers felt that Wellington gave the vibe of the futuristic cities and that it would be ideal for the film's backdrop.
Other cast members include Japanese actor Takeshi Kitano (Battle Royale), who plays the Major's boss Daisuke Aramaki. Pilou Asbæk (Lucy) and Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire)would be sharing the screen space with the star actor.
The movie is scheduled to release on March 31st 2017.
