Actress Katherine Kelly once played the role of the troubled 'Becky McDonald' on Coronation Street for almost a span of six years, and now she credits her experience working on the British television programme for making her a better actress.
Since leaving that show, Katherine has featured in many highly-acclaimed TV dramas like Happy Valley, Mr Selfridge and The Night Manager.
But the actress reckons that she should be thankful of one particular show(Coronation Street) as it has heped her significantly to develop and grow as a better actress.
"I always thought, OK, Becky's drunk again, but why is it this time? Is it because she's happy she's getting married? Is it because her marriage is failing and she's drinking herself into oblivion?" she said.
"That was the challenge - to find a different way of playing it. In a way, I embraced the inevitable repetition of the show and tried not to play the same thing twice, no matter how it was written." Kelly said.
"And I was a better actor for it - massively. I just think you get out what you put in, and if you put a lot in... it's like a ping pong match with the writers, and they will pick up on what you're doing and send you something great back." Kelly added.
"And when do you get that time on television to make mistakes? You just don't really." She added further.
