As the big wins under different categories were announced at the Oscars 2016, which happened today, February 29, 2016 in Los Angeles, everybody only waited for this one moment.
The moment when the award for the Best Actor was announced, and it seems like the long wait was worth it. The actress Julianna Moore represented the award, and she took a good amount of time before making the big announcement.
When it was revealed by the actress that Leonardo was taking home the golden man, the crowd was overwhelmed. And when Leonardo took to the stage, he received a standing ovation by the audience.
After having been nominated six times for Oscars, five for acting and one for producing 'The Wolf of Wall Street', Leonardo had the best speech ever for not only the audience, but the entire planet.
Following the extended applause, he made a point to thank his fellow nominees, the vast and crew of 'The Revenant' and the directors he's worked with previously.
What touched us more than his big win, was his brilliant acceptance speech. Being the environmentalist that he is, he spoke about the most important issue prevalent in today's world. He said,
'Climate change is real, it is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire speices and we need to work collectively and stop procrastinating.'
'We need to support leaders around the world... who speak for all of humanity.' he added. We couldn't be more proud of Leonardo or his mind blowing performing in 'The Revenant'.
