Universal
Studio's
classic
monster
spin-off
is
all
set
to
kick
off
from
next
year,
with
the
much
awaited
Tom
Cruise-starrer
The
Mummy
reboot.
However,
there
are
also
news
that
the
studio
is
aiming
for
similar
movies
including
another
anticipated
one,
the
Van
Helsing
reboot.
Talking
about
the
development,
co-writer
of
the
movie
Van
Helsing,
Jon
Spaihts
shared
some
interesting
facts.
Like
the
new
Van
Helsing
movie
will
differ
from
its
predecessor
in
a
huge
way.
It
will
be
more
of
a
modern
day
oriented
vampire
hunt.
"It's
a
new
creation,
so
it
doesn't
owe
much
of
a
debt
to
prior
films,it
is
still
a
very
romantic
departure
from
the
character
as
incepted
in
Bram
Stoker's
novel,
Dracula," said
Jon.
"This
is
a
monster
hunter
with
encyclopedic
knowledge,
but
it's
set
in
the
present
day
and
it's
filled
with
good
stuff
I'm
not
allowed
to
talk
about." He
added.
"I'm
very
excited
about
this
new
incarnation
of
Van
Helsing,
and
I
hope
that
as
the
Universal
monsters
cinematic
universe
begins
to
take
flight,
we'll
see
him
cropping
up
in
other
stories
as
well."
Jon
added
further.
Jon
said
that,
he
is
collaborating
with
co-writer
Eric
Heisserer
on
the
Van
Helsing
project,
and
looking
forward
to
give
the
story,
a
much
different
face.
Earlier,
Eric
Heisserer
had
revealed
that
"early
on,
our
inspiration
for
Van
Helsing's
character,
behavior
and
his
mannerisms
was
all
in
Mad
Max."
