Actor
Andrew
Garfield
states
that
he
tried
to
get
rid
of
ego
and
the
feeling
of
self-glory
for
the
role
of
his
latest
film
Silence.
The
movie
Silence
directed
by
famed
Hollywood
film-maker
Martin
Scorsese,
is
about
a
Catholic
missionary
in
charge,
who
along
with
his
colleague
sets
out
on
an
adventurous
journey
to
find
out
their
lost
mentor.
"With
'Silence',
there
was
longing.
I
wanted
my
ego
to
get
beaten
up.
I
wanted
to
get
past
this
idea
of
self-glory,
that
limited
perspective
on
life
and
what's
meaningful." Said
Andrew
Garfield
in
a
statement.
"There's
a
lot
of
ego
there,
a
lot
of
ambition
and
personal
glory
that
he's
after.
I
don't
think
he's
all
that
aware
of
it
when
he
first
sets
foot
in
this
foreign
territory
of
Japan,
and
I
believe
that
is
what
is
really,
truly
tested,
this
strong-willed
and
forceful
ego." The
actor
added.
Garfield
also
stated
that
the
film
has
also
helped
him
take
a
deeper
look
into
his
own
self
and
inhabit
the
world
in
a
more
mature
way.
"It
was
a
wonderful
journey
to
go
on
because
it's
the
pulverisation
of
the
ego
and
the
cracking
open
of
the
small
self
to
reveal
the
deeper
self
inside
and
to
truly
inhabit
the
world
in
a
more
mature
way.
I
hope
that
some
of
that
rubbed
off," Garfield
said.
