After
Amy
Adams,
the
talented
Hollywood
actress
failed
to
grab
a
nomination
for
the
Academy
Awards
2017,
for
her
much
appreciated
and
critically
applauded
performance
in
the
sci-fi
film
Arrival,
the
director
of
the
movie
Denis
Villeneuve
said
he
was
highly
disappointed.
The
director
said,
it
is
quite
hard
for
him
to
believe,
Amy
Adams
name
didn't
show
up
in
the
probables
for
Oscar
this
year
despite
her
magnificent
performance
in
the
movie
in
the
role
of
a
linguist.
However,
the
sci-fi
film
itself
has
acquired
eight
nominations
at
the
Oscar.
"It
was
so
strange.
When
they
announced,
at
one
point
we
were
like,
I
think,
already
five
nominations
or
something
like
that,
so
we
were
like
popping
the
champagne..." Said
the
director
in
a
statement.
"When
I
saw
that
she
was
not
nominated,
it
was
such
a
big
disappointment,
because
she's
the
soul,
she
was
my
muse.
I
owe
her
everything
for
'Arrival'." Denis
Villeneuve
added
further.
However,
the
director
also
said
that
it
was
a
mixed
feeling
for
him
when
he
found
his
name
shortlisted
at
the
Oscar,
but
Amy
Adam's
name
was
missing.
"So
when
they
announced
my
name,
it
was
like
a
strange
mix
of
emotion.
A
lot
of
joy
and
sadness
at
the
same
time.
Very
strange
experience," Denis
Villeneuve
explained.
