Dev Patel Overwhelmed By His Newfound Heartthrob Status

Celebrated Hollywood star of Indian origin, Dev Patel who is being hailed for his critical role in the Garth Davis movie Lion, says his newfound status - 'heartthrob' ' is quite "overwhelming".

The 26-year-old talented actor stated that it is still bit awkward to him when people fancy him, as he thinks he is quite an introvert and shy who even couldn't manage to find a girlfriend during his school days.

"It's very overwhelming and strange because I've always been the dude that never got a girlfriend in school. I was kind of the awkward outsider. So not that it's changed much but I'm still the same. I feel the same," Patel said in a statement.

Dev Patel has also bagged the Oscar nomination in the category of 'Best Actor in a Supporting Role' said, "Isn't that insane! I feel so overwhelmingly grateful. I don't know why I'm the recipient of so much luck and love. But it's beautiful. It's amazing. I'm just grateful."

However, Dev also stated that there has been a lot of changes since the day he debuted in the breakthrough role in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Although, Dev quipped that he would love to get back to that era of innocence.

"Go back to that place of innocence. I was beautifully unaware of everything back then and now I've come through it a couple times. It's more complex. It's more emotions in my head. I actually would like to go back to that place of innocence," added Dev.
