In the latest turn of events, War For The Planet Of The Apes director Matt Reeves has been roped in to direct and produce the much-anticipated Warner Bros. solo Batman movie titled The Batman.
Ben Affleck who was originally set to helm the direction part along with acting and co-writing duties, backed out of the direction duty on the ground of putting more focus into his acting for the movie. Ben Affleck is now expected to only concentrate on the acting part.
"I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply." Stated Matt Reeves.
"I am incredibly honoured and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen," Reeves said in a statement.
Toby Emmerich, the President of the Warner Bros. Picture Group, .also stated that "We are thrilled to have Matt Reeves taking the helm of Batman, the crown jewel of our DC slate."
"Matt's deep roots in genre films and his evolution into an emotional world-building director make him the perfect filmmaker to guide the Dark Knight through this next journe," Toby added further.
