My Speech At The Golden Globes Was Inelegantly Expressed: Tom Hiddleston

Renowned Hollywood actor Tom Hiddleston, also the star of The Night Manager and High-Rise has laid an apology for his controversial Golden Globe awards speech on January Sunday night, January 8.

Hiddleston, who won his first Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor in a TV movie or mini-series for The Night Manager tried to pay a tribute through his acceptance speech to the work of 'Médecins Sans Frontières' in South Sudan.

However, his words were highly criticised later and perceived as a classic example of the "humblebrag". To which the actor posted an apology on his social networking platform and stated that his "only intention" was "to salute their incredible bravery and courage."

"I just wanted to say ... I completely agree that my speech at the Golden Globes last night was inelegantly expressed. In truth, I was very nervous, and my words just came out wrong. " Said Tom Hiddleston.

"Sincerely, my only intention was to salute the incredible bravery and courage of the men and women who work so tirelessly for UNICEF UK, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and World Food Programme." He continued.

"And the children of South Sudan, who continue to find hope and joy in the most difficult conditions. I apologise that my nerves got the better of me." He added further.
