La La Land's dream award journey was finally stopped by Moonlight at the 89th Annual Academy Awards 2017 on Sunday night. Moonlight grabs the Oscar for the Best Picture beating the favourite La La Land for the most prestigious award of Hollywood in terms of motion pictures.

But the La La Land director Damien Chazelle creates another record in the history of Oscar, if not with the movie, then on his own. He becomes the youngest one to ever win an Oscar for Best Director at the age of just 32.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone as predicted wins her first Oscar as the Best Actress for the movie La La Land. On the other hand the, Manchester by the Sea actor Casey Affleck, wins Oscar in the Best Actor category.

Emma Stone has thanked the entire team of La La Land for winning her first Oscar as the Best Actress. She also mentioned her co-actor Ryan Gosling for her award win.

Mahershala Ali and Viola Davis also land their first Oscar awards of their career for their supporting roles in movies Moonlight and Fences respectively. However, this is in stark contrast to the Oscars 2016 where no black artist had even been nominated.
