Oppenheimer Release: Advance Bookings For Christopher Nolan's Epic Thriller Set A New Record In The Country

Oppenheimer, which is being dubbed as one of the greatest or the greatest films of the century, helmed by the epic Christopher Nolan, is going to hit the screens on July 21 in India. The craze and hype around the much-awaited film are insane.

Oppenheimer is a historical biographical drama, which is by far one of the most popular films ever made. The movie is witnessing major advance bookings in India in all the dubbed languages along with the original, English. The advance sales of tickets have set a record for an international film in India.

Oppenheimer Advance Bookings In India

Delving deep into the advance bookings for this craziest film, one of the premiere theatres PVR sold about 61,000 tickets, INOX sold 31,000 tickers and across the Cinepolis cinemas, more than 20,000 tickets have been sold for the first day of its release in India. As if this is not big enough, about 1.12 Lakh tickets were sold out for the film's second day at the theatres.

Putting these two days together, the first Sunday, which is the final day of the opening weekend saw some unprecedented surge in ticket sales. In PVR alone, more than 45,000 tickets were sold for Sunday. The number is above 23,000 in INOX, and 15,000 at Cinepolis. For the third day of Oppenheimer, about 83,000 tickets were already sold.

This is not just a unique record for a foreign movie released in India but indicates a concrete bonanza at the box office.

The movie stars an ensemble cast playing various prominent roles in the epic film. Cillian Murphy plays the J Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt will be seen as Katherine 'Kitty' Oppenheimer. Matt Damon plays Leslie Groves, Robert Downey Jr as Lewis Strauss, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, Josh Hartnett as Ernest Lawrence, Casey Affleck as Boris Pash, and Rami Malek as David Hill in the movie. In addition, the film also stars Kenneth Branagh Benny Safdie, Dylan Arnold, Gustaf Skarsgard, David Krumholtz, Tom Conti, Jack Quid, Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby, and others.

This Christopher Nolan's directorial is based on American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J Sherwin. He also penned the screenplay of the film and is the co-producer. Hoyte van Hoytema cranked the camera and Jennifer Lame worked as the editor. Ludwig Goransson composed the film's entire music and background score. Emma Thomas and Charles Roven produced the movie under the Syncopy Inc. and Atlas Entertainment banners.
