Open Season is a comedy story especially meant for kids. The story is about a domesticated grizzly bear named Boog and a scrawny deer, Elliot. These two are travelling in woods during the hunting season. They both move among the other animals of the forest and with the help of other animals they plan to drive the hunters out from the forest.

Initially, Boog lives along with his owner Beth, receives all the luxury needed and leads a happy life. When it meets Elliot, who was driven out by Shaw, and Elliot asks for help from Boog, they both join together. For some reason and because of some unexpected happenings, Boog too comes away from his owner Beth; both Boog and Elliot try to move outside. Then the pair moves to a forest where they find hunters. They both create ideas to make the hunters flee away from the forest.

This picture is an animated movie, in which many of the scenes are similar to other animated movies. Most of the scenes are not so original. It is a just another good comedy entertainer for the kids.
