Mynaa

Director Nagashekar had proved earlier that he could be a good story-teller in his earlier movies. He had also won the critics and audience appreciation in his last movie Sanju Weds Geetha. Now, he is returning with Mynaa, which is ready to go to Tamil films, a romantic tale again.

Mynaa is a based on a real-life incident narrated by retired cop Ashok Kumar. The police had narrated the tale to Nagashekar a few years ago that became the subject of the Chetan Kumar and Nithya Menon starrer movie.

Nagashekar has blended all the commercial elements to bring the real-life story on-screen. The stunning part of the film is that the director surprises you with technical values and he even surpass Mynaa with the Yogaraj Bhat's classic Mungaaru Male. He is well-supported by his leading cast Chetan Kumar, Nithya Menon and Tamil star Sarath Kumar. However, the story of the movie is good but the narration, at parts, appears to be boring. The story begins with the murder of Anirudh Desai (Ajay), who is the brother of politician Sanjay Desai played by Arun Sagar. It becomes a sensational news and the police department assigns a special team headed by Sarath Kumar and Suman Ranganathan. As they trace the murderer, we are told that Sathya Murthy (Chetan Kumar) is the criminal and police catches him in no time in Chennai. On the other end, the politician wants to seek revenge and sends goons to kill Sathya. However, as the cops arrest and bring back Sathya, he narrates his story.

Sathya accidentally comes across Mynaa when he was participating in a reality show, where he was asked to beg for money in train. The actress robs away his heart in their first encounter and this makes the hero to continue his acting as a beggar, who does not have legs, for few more times before he realises that she is a handicap. Soon they fall for each other and tie the knot. They shift to Bangalore from Castle Rock. However, situation makes him to kill the MLA's brother. Why he committed murder? What happened to their love? Does the film have a tragic end? Watch the film to get answers to all these questions

First things first. The hero of the movie is cinematographer Sathya Hegde. The cinematographer has done an outstanding work, the best-ever seen after Mungaaru Male. Every frame in the movie is a treat to watch. He has beautifully captured the Dudh Sagar falls and nearby regions.

The story of the film is brilliant and the director should be appreciated for packing the story with wonderful technical values. It is undoubtedly one of the best love story (original) films in the recent years. However, please note that audience should have patience to watch as the narration is slow and boring at parts. The first half is a bit dragging but the second half is good. Last but not least,

Acting wise, this is the best work of Chetan Kumar till date. He flaunts his body on several occasions and the chase scene in the beginning on the sea side is brilliantly shot. His co-star Nithya Menon is very charming and you will definitely fall in love with her character. Her smile, facial expressions and acting are excellent. Sarath Kumar is perfect in the role of a cop, Suman Ranganathan is okay and the item song is bonus. Malavika and Tabla Nani have done justice.

Two songs are soothing and Nagendra Prasad's 'Modala maleyante...' is the best song in the album composed by Jassie Gift. Sadhu Kokila's background score is commendable.

Verdict: Mynaa appears to be next Mungaaru Male. But the only drawback of the movie is the slow narration. Not sure whether mass will give thumbs up or not.
